Palatable overview aside, this shit makes me want to hire Karl Lagerfeld to fan the flames of my own faggotry (Margaret Cho reference = check).

Its first season, set in the urban neighborhoods of Chicago, Washington D.C., and New York City, dedicates two years to documenting the stories of ten effeminate gay men. And, gurl, they werk.

I’ve always thought I was acting “gay” enough when I vogued to the music in front of Panache on Broadway or downed my second AMF at the Cuff, but these bitches show me up. But thank Cher I came across this. In a culture where every outlet of queer social interaction, from the club scene to Adam4Adam to walks around Capitol Hill, there seems to be a pervasive valorization of “straight-acting” gay men. You’ve seen it before: “No femmes” or “Masc-acting looking for same.”

50Faggots slaps our society right where it needs it most – our assumptions of others. In a deliciously campy enterprise, the queens in the films discuss their professional and personal lives that are often in contradiction with their communities’ dominant ideological notions about how the fuck they’re supposed to act.

That alone makes it worthwhile to follow. Just check out their site http://www.50faggots.com/ for a pickle tickle or two and give those vogue-yearning arms a much needed rejuvenation.
