A note to a stranger.
You have been a helping and healing stranger for years. Through the loss of my mother, multiple bout’s with serious illness, my diagnosis and the recent death of a partner, Etta you “rocked me and told me to get up” and you reminded me ”I need a reason to leave the past behind” and that “there is no easy way”. And for that I want to thank you.
Your suffering ended and for that I am happy. You led an amazing life, accomplished things that you probably thought were impossible. At times you were tormented with drugs. And you fought that battle in public and had to deal with those repercussions. Etta, your battled with HEP C, a disease all to familiar to those of us who are HIV positive, inspired. And in many ways, due to racism, drug addiction and stigma of disease; we shared a story. I can relate to you and I will continue turning to you in my times of need. You will be truly missed and never forgotten.
Love you Etta. May you rest in peace.
